To explain who Yeshua is, to understand the being he is, the power called Anima must be explained; and in order to understand Anima, the fabric of the Universe itself has to be understood. As Yeshua’s life is connected, from close or far, to most major events that happened in his universe, his history is very long. I do not think the wiki link is explaining enough for someone non-acquainted with the canon to understand, so here it is:
Genesis (0000)
The Universe is composed of two Domains: the Upper Domain and Lower Domain. The Upper Domain is where God lives, God is most commonly known as U-DO. There are many entities similar to U-DO, other Waves Existences existing alongside of it, but they do not appear to interfere with U-DO or humanity. U-DO is described as being a unified consciousness of nigh-infinite power, lonely and borderline childish; it is always asking questions and rarely does anything aside from observing events and persons. The Lower Domain, also called the Dimensional Universe, is where humans live; it is what humans call the Universe: countless stars and planets drifting within countless Galaxies, something that looks infinite from our viewpoint. There might be many Lower Domains but this is not confirmed; because of how limited humans are, it is impossible for them to perceive other Lower Domains or the Upper Domain. The Dimensional Universe is divided into two Domains: one of them is the Real Number Domain. It is the domain we perceive, the physical domain where the bodies exist. The other one is the Imaginary Number Domain, where the consciousnesses exist. Everything that exists within the Real Number Domain exists as well in the Imaginary Number Domain. The consciousnesses exist within the Imaginary Number Domain, but the bodies ‘trap’ them and anchor them to the Realm Number Domain. When the body dies, the consciousness is free to return where it came from.
At the same time the Lower Domain was created (the Big Bang), the Collective Unconscious was born within the Imaginary Number Domain, the Zohar was created. The Collective Unconscious is often called the UMN (Unus Mundus Network). It is the collective of every consciousness in the Dimensional Universe: all consciousnesses come from it, and they return to it when the body dies. The Zohar is a door from the Upper Domain to the Lower Domain. It could be simply described as being a door to U-DO, although the influxes of energy are only possible from the Upper Domain toward the Lower Domain. When a massive influx of energy comes from the Zohar, it causes a Matter Shift; basically what exists within the Real Number Domain is shifted within the Imaginary Number Domain.
Nevertheless, the equilibrium of the Universe is very fragile. Human’s consciousnesses have a tendency to reject each other: it is one of the greatest threats to the Universe’s survival. When someone dies and his consciousness returns to the Collective Unconscious, this person’s consciousness may refuse to return to the Collective. It is a natural process; peoples’ consciousnesses are always scarred of being so close to others consciousnesses, but they end up merging within the Collective Unconscious. But if the fear of returning to the Collective is too great, then this consciousness won’t return to it, and without a body, will wander the Imaginary Number Realm. They are known as a Rejecting Will. When the Zohar’s energy shines and draws those Rejecting Will, who aspire to become like U-DO, they can be perceived as translucent monsters in the Real Number Domain, and are called Gnosis. Gnosis are how we perceive those Rejecting Wills, they attack humans and kill them or worst, Gnosify them. Legendary creatures and monsters we hear about in myths and legends are actually Gnosis. As time passes, the risk is that more and more humans will develop that fear of the union with the Collective, increasing the number of Rejecting Will. Worst, U-DO’s contact with humans increases the speed of this phenomenon. While peoples having a strong sense of individuality is not be a bad thing, quite the contrary from a philosophical standpoint, them rejecting the union with the Collective Unconscious leads to the dispersion of that Collective. If the number of Rejecting Will was to exceed that of the Non-Rejecting Will, then the Dimensional Universe would collapses. Because of how the domains are connected, the Upper Domain would collapse as well, meaning the end of the entire Universe.
To prevent this from happening, the Collective Unconscious produced the Power of Anima. Anima is a failsafe, meant to automatically destroy properly the Dimensional Universe, if ever the number of Rejecting Will was to become too important. This way the Upper Domain of the Universe would be protected. To control the power of Anima, the Collective Unconscious produced another power, known as Animus. This power can control Anima and the Relics of God; it’s to say devices using Anima or the Zohar as power source. Aside from those two God-Like powers, the Collective Unconscious also gave birth to Shining Wills. They are part of the Failsafe System; while Anima will automatically ignite the day it is needed, and while Animus keeps the power of Anima in check, those Shining Wills resonate with Anima. There is one special Shining Will who doesn’t resonate with Anima but with Animus, and it is only with her that Animus can reach its full potential. The Shining Wills have a strong sense of individuality and a great will of power, but in spite of that, they cannot become Gnosis.
But humanity, the Collective Unconscious, in spite of having created Anima and Animus, didn’t want to disappear, it wants to survive. As such, a third power was formed by the Collective Unconscious, one whose purpose would be to preserve the existence of the Dimensional Universe at any cost. This power has no name, but when humanity appeared on Earth, he took upon a physical form, and the name he used the most often was Wilhelm.
Ancient Era (BC XXXX – AD 00XX)
When Wilhelm appeared on Earth, so did the power of Anima and the power of Animus. Anima’s incarnation was Yeshua, and Animus’ incarnation is the woman called Mary Magdalene. The three of them were immortals and considered god-like beings. While they didn’t have the knowledge of who they were and what their purpose was, they instinctively understood what they were, their mission and their purpose. While Anima on its own possesses impressive power, Yeshua found out he could also draw infinite power from U-DO himself through the Zohar, because he had a natural knowledge of Lemegton, the Words of God. Using them, he could establish a link with the Zohar and draw infinite amount of powers from there. Yeshua refused as well to see the Dimensional Universe destroyed. They might have been incarnations of powers meant to end the Dimensional Universe, but the consciousness they developed was against that destruction, even though they understood its necessity in the worst scenario. They searched ways to prevent Anima from having to ever be used, but working with Wilhelm was apparently impossible, they shared the same purpose, but their solutions, their beliefs were different.
They gathered many peoples with them to help; all of them were Shining Wills, who would come to be known as the Apostles, and one of them was the Maiden of Mary, resonating with Animus. They were no god-like beings or immortal though, they were merely humans. Mary came up with a plan, and decided that to prevent the consciousnesses from rejecting each other, humans should become Gods themselves, similar to U-DO, and live in an Upper Domain, forever protecting them from destruction. She and her followers then created the system known as Zarathustra, meant to allow humans to become Higher Existences. The system used Anima as its power source, as well as the Zohar. Yeshua and Mary built alongside of Zarathustra other systems, meant to be part of Zarathustra’s system: Omega and Merkabah amongst other thing, known as the Relics of God. It failed nevertheless, as humans cannot become Gods, and worst of all it speeded up the process of Anima’s ignition.
Later on, they thought they found the solution in a man, who came to be known as The Messiah. His teachings were basically that of Christianity; they incited humans to accept each other, to love each other and to be good to one another. By accepting those teachings while they were alive, it would increase the possibility for peoples to join peacefully the Collective Unconscious at their death, thus saving the Dimensional Universe. Mary and Yeshua decided to help him spread his teachings throughout the world; Mary planned how to spread his teachings, and Yeshua accomplished miracles in the man’s name using Lemegton. The Messiah and Yeshua together formed the being known as Jesus. At this time, Yeshua also decided to write down Lemegton, in the hope those words would help humans someday, unfortunately only he can utter them correctly, and the book got lost in darkness of history for two thousand years.
Unfortunately, helping the Messiah was not without risks. The Apostles resonated with Anima, speeding up the ignition of Anima even further, and Wilhelm finally intervened. He was then Emperor of the Roman Empire, and he persecuted The Messiah and its followers to stop them from interacting with Anima. In the end, the Messiah was crucified and died. But this was too late and Anima was about to ignite. To prevent the destruction of the Dimensional Domain and to save Yeshua’s life, Mary sacrificed herself and divided Anima into 13 parts. One remained in Yeshua, and the 12 others became the Vessels of Anima. Because she did something that was against her nature, Mary’s power of Animus faded away, and ultimately she died, her consciousness and powers scattering across the UMN.
Following Mary’s death, Yeshua stopped taking an active role in the events and merely observed things; would he have chosen to fight Wilhelm’s plan anyway, he would have been unable to oppose him without his powers. Wilhelm took control of Zarathustra, and slowly sought to take control of the world from the Shadows to implement his own plan against the destruction: the Eternal Recurrence. It is simple; the Recurrence consists of sending back every existence in the Dimensional Universe to the origin point, forever trapping the Dimensional Universe in a circle, before the Collective Unconscious may collapse, so that the end never happens. Mary’s follower managed to hide and seal the Zohar away, to incapacitate Wilhelm, as they rejected the idea of the recurrence. Mary’s body, albeit dead, didn’t decompose and Yeshua placed her and the 12 vessels in Rennes-le-Chateau. He then spent the next 2000 years protecting her body from Wilhelm. He stopped using the name Yeshua, and took upon the name chaos.
Modern Era (AD 20XX)
In the 21st century, without anyone left to oppose him, Wilhelm had virtually control of humanity and established a company known as Vector Industry. It financed an archeological expedition in Kenya, and the archeologist in charge of the expedition, Dr. Matsuda, was successful in finding and unsealing the Zohar. It was then taken to the Headquarters of Vector Industries to be studied. A scientist managed to find the book where Yeshua had written down Lemegton, deciphered it, and made it into a program to activate the Zohar. The first person to have attempted it was his own daughter, Nephilim, and a matter shift happened. She became an Imaginary Domain existence, neither a Gnosis, neither part of the Collective Unconscious. Peoples who enter in contact with U-DO receive a vision of the whole Universe’s destruction and generally go ‘mad’, selfish, or what peoples see as ‘evil’. But Nephilim didn’t go mad and remained calm, instead trying to find a way to save the Universe. Surprised at this reaction, U-DO decided to observe this girl in peculiar, and as such created Observation Terminals with the purpose to observe Nephilim: the Real Number form of its “eyes” is a young boy named Abel, while the Imaginary Number form is a gigantic vessel known as Abel’s Ark. After that, the experiment with the Zohar went berserk, threatening all of humanity of disappearing as a matter shift was spreading.
Amidst the ensuing chaos, Wilhelm went to Rennes-le-Chateau to recover the 12 Vessels of Anima, but Yeshua, or rather chaos now, who was still there, prevented him from taking Mary’s body for his schemes, delaying Wilhelm’s plan of many thousands years. Humanity left Earth thanks to spaceships built by Vector, and Wilhelm reduced Earth to Plank Scale to prevent the matter shift from spreading to the whole Dimensional Universe. chaos was forced to leave Rennes-le-Chateau at this point and humanity started to colonize other planets. The Lemegton program scattered throughout the UMN. During those thousands years, Nephilim took contact with chaos to organize a plan to save the Dimensional Universe, and while he didn’t take upon an active role, he helped her and assisted the peoples they thought could be a hope for the future.
At some point after humanity left and lost Earth, a new calendar system was adopted, Transcend Christ, and Earth was renamed Lost Jerusalem. What happened in the 4000 following years remains for the most part a mystery. By TC 4000 though, humanity had colonized thousands and thousands of planet over many galaxies and was apparently prosper. A Federation had been created, and a Church named Ormus secretly existed, officially called the Immigrant Fleet. They were the inheritor of Christianity. Around that period as well, another human made contact with U-DO, Dmitri Yuriev. U-DO’s vision terrorized him and granted him a virtual immortality, but he sought to destroy God and become God himself, thinking this way he could save himself from the Universe’s destruction.
The Voyager Investigation (TC 4657)
In this year, chaos helped from the shadows a man named Jan Sauer in his investigation against the mysterious murderer known as Voyager. Jan Sauer was in fact the reincarnation of one of chaos’ friends, one of the Apostles. Even though Voyager was also a Shining Will, it is unknown if he was an Apostle as well in his past life. Voyager is a man who had been in contact with U-DO the same way Nephilim and Yuriev had been, and to avoid madness and despair, he had decided to provide U-DO with information to prevent the end of the world. Unfortunately for him, U-DO never answered his expectations and abandoned him.
The whole investigation was closely watched by Wilhelm, who intended to make of Jan Sauer his first Testament; a Shining Will whose physical body die and is willingly ‘reverse engineered’ by Wilhelm to serve his purpose, it’s to say the accomplishment of Eternal Recurrence. Yeshua’s intervention thwarted his plan as even with The Compass, Wilhelm cannot predict Yeshua’s action. Instead, Wilhelm decided to make of Voyager his first Testament, and when Voyager realized U-DO wouldn’t help him saving the Dimensional Universe, he accepted to become the Black Testament. He thus reached immortality and became a superior being, superior to other humans and especially to his rival.
Jan Sauer suicided when Voyager offered him to join him, as Voyager had ‘killed’ his wife and son, but he would be revived by the Federation as a Cyborg, who would live for over 100 years and would be known as Ziggurat 8, then Ziggy.
Before the Crisis (TC 47XX – TC 4753)
The Zohar, who had been kept by Ormus on the planet Michtam until then, was moved on the planet Miltia to be studied by the U-Tic, a mock company hiding the Ormus church and fooling the Federation. Kevin Winnicott saw his family die on Michtam and was approached by Wilhelm as he was a child to construct an android looking exactly like Mary Magdalene, KOS-MOS, in order to revive her soul within. He then became Wilhelm’s right hand man, and thanks to him became the second in command in the Zohar experiments. Wilhelm was at the time the CEO of Vector and an important figure in the Federation, but he was also assuming the identity of Cardinal Heinlein, pulling the strings in Ormus and playing the role of the CEO of a company in direct concurrence with Vector. Kevin was the reincarnation of an apostle as well: Judah, the traitor.
On this very planet also lived the Maiden of Mary’s reincarnation: Shion Uzuki and her brother. Kevin fell in love with her, and so did she with time. Joachim Mizrahi, a famous scientist, established a perfected system to connect with the Zohar. Mizrahi got his hands on Lemegton and manufactured the Song of Nephilim, a gigantic system ‘singing’ Lemegton. To help with the connection, he created 12 Zohar Emulator, mock Zohar of weak capacities to help activate the real Zohar, and connected two transgenic-type Realians to the system (half mechanical/half biological artificial beings) for establishing a contact with the Zohar. Albeit Mizrahi was the head of Project, everything was organized by Ormus and he was merely a puppet to them.
Nevertheless, throughout his researches, Mizrahi had discovered everything: Ormus, Yeshua who is the failsafe, Wilhelm’s existence, Mary Magdalene and her revival, the universe’s destruction, the result of Zohar’s experiment. The only thing he didn’t find out was the culmination of Wilhelm thousand years long scheme: the eternal recurrence. As such, he moved forward with his experiment, knowing what they’d lead to, but betters him to do it than someone else; at least he would do his best to help humanity. He encrypted all his discoveries as well as Lemegton in the Y-Data, and then hided them into a Realian he created in the image of his dead daughter. Realians are human looking artificial life forms; half robotic, half biological, very commonly used at those times.
In parallel, Dmitri Yuriev had created an army of biological weapon, the URTVs: U-DO Retro Virus, 12 years old children in appearance. All of them possessed waves that should be able to kill U-DO’s eyes in our domain, but Yuriev lied to them and the Federation, not revealing U-DO’s true nature and merely making it look as a malevolent entity that can and should be destroyed. All the URTVs share a common consciousness and have bland personality, save for the four Variants: Rubedo, Albedo, Nigredo and Citrine. He trained them for the day they’d have to kill U-DO, even though Dmitri knew U-Do cannot be killed and his real plan was to become God himself. It is very possible that Rubedo, Nigredo and Albedo are the reincarnation of Apostles as well.
The Miltian Accident (TC 4753)
On a terrible diplomatic stance with the U-Tic, and fearing what would happen if U-Tic pierced the Zohar’s secrets and used it as a weapon, the Federation attacked Miltia. In retaliation, the countless Realians on Miltia and those sent by the Federation went mad due to the activation of a secret code and killed randomly peoples, destroying everything and rendering most of the federation’s army useless. On a separate mission, the army of URTV was sent to kill U-DO, but they failed and all of them, save for the variant, got contaminated by U-DO and went rampage, killing peoples and adding to the chaos. Albedo was contaminated as well and became mad, but he also absorbed some of U-DO’s powers in the process and gained a better understanding of the Universe.
The Federation sent two men to retrieve the URTVs from this hell. One of the two men was a Realian, Canaan, specially built by Vector not to go mad, without the security fail allowing the U-Tic to disable Realians. The other one was chaos himself. Together, they landed on Miltia thanks to a Mecha provided by Vector, ES Asher using a vessel of Anima as power source. U-Tic activated the Song of Nephilim to draw the Zohar’s power. This ‘song’ renders peoples mad when Lemegton is not uttered correctly, and chaos, knowing its effects better than anyone else, helped Canaan resist it, successfully. They then met with Jin Uzuki, the brother of Shion and the reincarnation of an Apostle as well, who was himself on a mission to expose the true society behind the U-Tic: Ormus. After helping him to defeat the Colonel Margulis of the U-Tic (also the reincarnation of an Apostle), they went on separate ways. chaos and Canaan managed to save Rubedo and Nigredo, chaos comparing them to the Knights of Apocalypse. Albedo on his end was saved by U-Tic and Citrine returned to her Yuriev’s organization in the Federation, Salvator.
Meanwhile, the crazed Realians killed Shion Uzuki’s mother. Shion fell into despair at this sight, and being the Maiden of Mary, this ignited the Zohar as never, the Zohar’s influx power drawing all of the Gnosis to it and materializing them into the Real Number Domain. To prevent them from causing the Collective Unconscious to shatter, Mizrahi sealed off Miltia and the Zohar before being murdered, probably by one of Wilhelm’s men. The main actors of those events managed to escape in time.
Aftermath (TC 4753 – TC 4767)
From that point on, Gnosification increased on exponential scale. Gnosis started appearing everywhere in the Universe, what were just isolated case and rumors became the greatest threat humanity ever faced. Gnosis being Imaginary Number Domain, technologies to ‘kill’ them are not sufficient enough and humanity was on the brink to be destroyed by them. During those times, chaos helped Rubedo and Nigredo to fund the Kukai Foundation and worked for the Foundation actively, although no one there saw him as an employee, but has a valued friend.
He then encountered the crew of a small ship named the Elsa. He played Poker with the three crew members, Captain Matthews, Tony and Hammer. But quickly they ended up owing him two times the money they gain in one year. He didn’t ask them money though, only that they take him on their ship for transportation. During the travel, chaos saw the cargo one of the Captain’s old friend had asked him to deliver, and realized it was something illegal. Matthews was shocked to learn what the Cargo was, but it was too late and they had been sighted by the Federation. chaos told them what to do to escape the Federation, but as it involved destroying a structure belonging to the Kukai Foundation, Matthews found himself with a debt of many millions G.
As such, the Elsa became a part of the Kukai Foundation, and chaos a crew member of the Elsa, and the ship’s protector. Whenever they encountered Gnosis, chaos destroyed them, or rather, eased their pain. Following that, the three crewmembers not only became chaos’ friends, but they also admired and respected him above anyone else.
Meanwhile, Shion Uzuki and Kevin Winnicott joined Vector and built KOS-MOS, officially as the perfect Anti Gnosis weapon, Wilhelm, Voyager and Kevin being the only one to know the true intent of the KOS-MOS Project. As part of his plan, Kevin orchestrated his own death at the hand of the KOS-MOS archetype, and become the Red Testament. Shion, who was engaged with Kevin, gave all her soul into constructing and making KOS-MOS the most human possible, as she was all she had left of Kevin. Because that particular bond formed between her and the android looking just like Mary Magdalene, the consciousness of Mary Magdalene revived within the android. Nevertheless, the consciousness was sleeping and most of her memories were blocked.
The Weaver of Zarathustra (TC 4767)
KOS-MOS was finally achieved, but before she could be awakened, the fleet transporting her and a Zohar Emulator was attacked by the Gnosis. Awakening when she felt Shion was in danger, she managed to help her and the Vector personal to evacuate the ship in escape pods, but accidentally killed Virgil who was in the way of her mission. After his death, Virgil made a pact with Wilhelm and became the Blue Testament, as he was the reincarnation of one of the Apostle as well. The whole fleet of Federation ship was destroyed, with only a few escape pods left. One of them contained Shion and her co-worker Allen, while the Commandant Cherenkov, a Federation military spying for the U-Tic, managed to stay on the pod with a spacesuit.
The Elsa passed in the region short after, and KOS-MOS coerced the crew in taking her onboard. While KOS-MOS wanted to let Shion, Cherenkov and Allen drift in space until a rescue ship would pass by, as they would slow down her mission given by Vector of going back to Vector’s headquarter, chaos stepped in and convinced her to allow them to come onboard as well. From this point on, chaos kept a close eye on KOS-MOS, waiting for Mary’s consciousness to wake up as he knew about her and who she truly was. It happened on a few occasion during their journey, the android’s red eyes turning blue on those occasions, as Mary’s eyes. Chaos socialized with the three new passengers, and with two more of them as the ship was shortly joined by Ziggy. The android was on a mission to save Mizrahi’s Realian daughter, MOMO, from the U-Tic, as she contained the Y-Data, but his ship had been attacked by the U-Tic on the way back. The Elsa saved them though and they were allowed to come onboard. By chance, they all the same destination: the planet 2nd Miltia.
Later on, many events happened where chaos participated by helping and supporting morally his friends. When the Elsa was about to be destroyed by a horde of Gnosis, Mary awakened briefly within KOS-MOS and chaos helped her to use Animus to destroy them. Ultimately he, KOS-MOS, Shion, Allen, Ziggy and MOMO joined with Rubedo, now using the name Gaignun Kukai Junior, and went to the Kukai Foundation, in waiting before going to the 2nd Miltia. When the Kukai Foundation got framed for betraying the Federation and being those who destroyed the ship that was escorting KOS-MOS in the beginning, they had to explore KOS-MOS subconscious to find the proofs that the Foundation was innocent. In her subconscious, chaos and Shion encountered Nephilim. Nephilim spoke with chaos a bit, speaking of Shion’s importance for Mary, but for him as well.
The framing of the foundation was a plot with the sole purpose of allowing the U-Tic to get back MOMO, and so the Y-Data. Having failed to do so, Albedo, now adult and working with the U-Tic, used the Song of Nephilim to draw countless Gnosis t attack the Foundation and retrieve MOMO. Chaos was one of only peoples to hear the song, and protested against their use of it once more. As the Gnosis were overcoming the Foundation, Wilhelm stepped in in the Ship-Colony Motherbase of Vector, the Dammerung, and used their latest anti-gnosis armament, the Rhine Maiden, to annihilate the fleet of Gnosis at once. They took the occasion to retrieve MOMO from Albedo’s hands, but in spite of this Albedo managed to summon Proto Merkabah, a copy of the original Merkabah built by Mary in ancient times. Having accessed the Y-Data, Albedo had the knowledge of everything Mizrahi did, much to the Testaments’ displeasure, but Wilhelm chose to let him do as he wished.
The team managed to stop Albedo who fled, but Merkabah was still about to destroy a planet. In disintegrating the Merkabah, the Elsa took a lot of time and barely escaped. KOS-MOS uttered the words ‘Relinquish your pain, unto me’, that chaos’ recognized as being Mary’s word. As KOS-MOS was about to be destroyed as she used her own body to protect the Elsa, chaos decided for the first time in millennia’s to take an active role in history, and used his powers to protect her from being destroyed. All safe, the Elsa landed on the 2nd Miltia and chaos got reunited with his old friend Jin Uzuki when he followed Shion who decided to visit her brother.
He once more took a passive role in the following events, preferring to watch than to act, all while assisting the others. He was annoyed to see the use of ES, the ES being the Mecha using the Vessels of Anima as their power source. Later, after Albedo created an U-DO distortion, died and became the final Testament, he helped Rubedo escape the U-DO Anomaly as it was closing, apparently coming out of nowhere. Nevertheless, the anomaly brought Abel’s Ark out of hiding, which absorbed the now freed Zohar. chaos used his power to push away Abel’s Ark. At this moment Wilhelm contacted him, and chaos told him he has no intention of watching him do, he finally took the decision of taking an active role in what was to come.
The End of the Cycle (TC 4768)
As a result of Abel’s Ark appearance, a part of Lost Jerusalem appeared in part. This landmass happened to be the resting place of the Vessel of Animus: Mary’s body. Ormus and the federation fought over dominance of Rennes-le-Chateau, but before anyone could set foot on it, a shield appeared around the landmass, and trapped the Elsa within it. The Four Testaments infiltrated Rennes-le-Chateau to recover Mary Magdalene’s body, still intact after 6000 years. Kevin could then build another android, T-elos, made of Mary’s body. The intent was for T-elos to kill KOS-MOS and absorb the consciousness of Mary Magdalene, so that her revival would be complete. Meanwhile, the android was given an AI, cruel and sadistic with the sole purpose to execute KOS-MOS. She was officially introduced as a replacement to KOS-MOS in the federation and KOS-MOS was literally thrown to trash. But the Elsa being trapped in Rennes-le-Chateau and KOS-MOS’ weaponry being the only way to penetrate the barrier surrounding the landmass, Shion and her friend had an excuse to ‘steal’ KOS-MOS from Vector. They reactivated her, and used her to infiltrate Rennes-le-Chateau. There, at the place where Mary was resting, the Red Testament and T-elos were waiting for them. chaos was shocked when he realized that T-elos was made of Mary’s body, but he couldn’t intervene. T-elos nearly killed KOS-MOS, having been built with superior weaponry, but Shion’s will to protect her awakened Mary’s consciousness once more, protecting them all from T-elos and moving them into the Imaginary Number Domain, more precisely, in a recreation of the Miltian Accident. There KOS-MOS was rebuilt with superior weaponry. Eventually, they returned to the Real Domain.
chaos remained discreet during the following events, concerning mostly Shion and Rubedo and fighting ghost of their pasts, until their travel leaded them to the Michtam where Zarathustra slept. When they got close to the core of Michtam, Mary’s consciousness finally awoke for good, but with no memory of her previous life. T-elos tried to kill KOS-MOS once more, but she couldn’t defeat the power of Animus, and dies. KOS-MOS then absorbs T-elos’ body, it’s to say Mary’s body, fulfilling Mary’s revival, as she gets back all the memories of her ancient life. They encounter Kevin after that, who tries to get Shion to agree with the recurrence, but much to his surprise, Mary actually doesn’t agree with the recurrence and convince Shion not to join Kevin. They fight, and he flees to where Wilhelm is.
When they arrived at the core of Zarathustra, Wilhelm incapacitated all the characters, chaos included as he didn’t have Anima, reunited the 12 Vessel of Anima around Zarathustra, the Zohar encrypted within the System and Abel in the system as well. He explained a few of the past era story to the character, asked Shion for she use the ‘key’, her pendant, in order activate Zarathustra and start the eternal recurrence. She refused, so Wilhelm did torture her until she’d accept; Kevin ended up betraying Wilhelm as he couldn’t bear seeing Shion suffering, but to no avail as Wilhelm merely tortured him as well. Knowing that Mary didn’t want Yeshua to die or the Universe to be destroyed, he ordered Mary to bring him the pendant and start the recurrence. It appeared to work, but at the last second she broke the pendant, and the android’s eyes turned back to Red, claiming to be KOS-MOS and not Mary. As Wilhelm pleads Mary to help him start everything back, she keeps refusing and chaos speaks with Wilhelm, explaining his belief in humanity. Zarathustra went berserk and threatened to destroy the Universe, Kevin absorbed the energy of Zarathustra through himself and Wilhelm, to give a chance to the others of destroying the system, although it would kill him and Wilhelm’s body to do so. Once done, chaos had a last word with Wilhelm, telling him he believes humans can save the universe. Wilhelm acknowledged those words sound like something he’d say before his physical body disappeared. Nephilim then appeared close to Abel, to accomplish the plan she had in mind from the start.
KOS-MOS and chaos asked all the others to leave, as to let them do the matter shift to give humanity the time to find a solution. Before they left, chaos instructed to find Lost Jerusalem, as the key to save humanity is hidden on this planet. After they left, Mary, through KOS-MOS, released her power of Animus. It reconstructed Anima and gave it back to chaos, while Animus went momentarily to Nephilim, so that she could accomplish her plan with chaos and Abel. As he was working on the Matter Shift with Nephilim that was to take all Rejecting Will to Lost Jerusalem, so that humanity would have many thousands years left before the situation would get critical once more, KOS-MOS protected the area from the countless Gnosis trying to stop chaos and Nephilim. Eventually, Jin Uzuki came back to help KOS-MOS defend them, and after having slayed countless Gnosis, he fell under their attacks and died. Chaos saw this and tried to continue his task, but as they were nearly done, a gigantic Gnosis threatened to end the process, so KOS-MOS sacrificed herself, exploding against the Gnosis, basically killing her, and so Mary, for a second time. Albeit destroyed by seeing KOS-MOS, and as such Mary die again chaos managed to complete the Matter Shift, and every souls, including Jin, were taken to Lost Jerusalem, and he lost his physical body.
chaos, albeit he lost his physical form, managed to maintain open a way for the Elsa and his friends to leave the area before the Matter Shift was completed, and to help them further, Wilhelm used this opportunity bring both the Elsa and the Dammerung in the Milky Way, not so far from Lost Jerusalem. At the end, KOS-MOS was seen drifting in space, and chaos’ voice spoke to her, telling them that the universe still needed them, and wishing her a good night. After that, her body arrived close to Lost Jerusalem, and supposedly, chaos’ consciousness as well.

Personality:
Calm, caring and reassuring. Those are the traits anyone who spoke with chaos for a few minutes would agree upon. He is indeed often very calm and quiet; someone who does not know him that well could think he is quite a boring person, borderline invisible as he tends to avoid getting in the spot light. A man who would soon become a friend, Allen Ridgeley, even criticized and lightly mocked his demeanor after meeting him. Those criticisms were met with a lot of hostility from the crew chaos worked with (normal, as he had saved their lives).
Nevertheless, chaos is not emotionless, and while he does his best to hide his darker emotions, such as sadness and anger, they show up at time. Very caring as specified above, his face will express deep sadness upon seeing a friend being hurt or even worst- being killed. He could even scream under hard emotional strain, as any human being. He expresses his anger only when atrocious acts are committed, if something terrible has been done to his friends or if an evil deed has been committed using his own knowledge. Those are very rare occurrences, but they happen. Such an occurrence was when he saw that Wilhelm had used Mary’s body to achieve his plan or when he saw KOS-MOS sacrificing herself. Another example would be when the Song of Nephilim was used, a ‘weapon’ that could cost millions, maybe even billions of lives, a weapon that was created from ancient writings he had laid down millennia ago.
Another trait peoples would agree upon to define him is slowness. Whenever he speaks, he is slow. It’s not only a trait affecting his speech though, it also affects the way he walks, moves, or even his attacks. In everything he does, a certain slowness, quietness can be felt, contrasting greatly with energetic characters. This doesn’t mean he cannot run or act quickly- If the situation calls for it, he will do it. And while he often appears cheerful, while he always smiles to the people he meets, in fact he hides a sadness that has been lingering within him for thousands of years- a sadness born when his partner died. He is a serious man who accomplishes his duty thoroughly, yet as asserted through his discussion with Wilhelm, he never took an active role in history, he never went on the front, and just followed the flow of events.
In the past he worked together with Mary, he was quite active back then, so much that he even took decisions that would change the course of history. But after her death he gave up, and left Wilhelm to do whatever he wished. The situation changed by the end of the game serie: one year before the end, he told him he would take upon an active role, and he did indeed by the end of the serie. When Zarathustra was destroyed, he decided that now, to give humanity a chance, he would take his responsibility and do what he thought was best, without following the whim of other peoples, without following the pre-destined future wrote by Wilhelm. It doesn’t mean he hates or even dislikes Wilhelm, he knows Wilhelm took those decisions and acted for the better of humanity. But while they have the same purpose, they do not share the means.
The official Xenosaga guides gave Yeshua a Type-9 characteristic in the Enneagram personality assessment. Type-9 is referred to as “The Peacemaker”. They are relaxed peoples, who aim to help and heal others, yet they are passive, much like Yeshua. One of the fears of the Type 9 is to lose and be separated of those close to them, a situation Yeshua went through when Mary died, and a situation that repeated itself throughout the millennia as he invariably survived to any of his friend, all of them being mortal and himself being immortal. There is no doubt that remaining a human and surviving to countless generations of human deeply affected him. A Type-9 never takes initiatives and lets others take decisions. They avoid conflict and move along with the group, as Yeshua did for thousands of years.
It is said that if they are to take a leading role, they make excellent leaders as they are selfless, sacrificial and strive to improve the life of others before thinking to themselves. Yeshua manifested the will to take an active role in the end, maybe it means he’s going to work for the greater good, as Wilhelm did, but unlike him he won’t take an extreme path, always thinking to the others and what would be best for them.
Lastly, Yeshua likes to speak with peoples not only to discuss about their fears and pains, but also from a more philosophical standpoint, of a variety of topics for that matter. He likes speaking philosophy, as he did quite a few times with his friend Jin Uzuki, politics as he often does with characters when the subject is brought on, and of the events, higher plans, debating endlessly with Wilhelm on their view on the universe, humanity, and what should be done.
Abilities:
Yeshua is skilled in Martial Arts and fight enemy mostly in this way. Having lived at least 8000 years, we can assume he knows how to use most weapons and learnt numerous fighting techniques, but he never uses them. He has a near indestructible body and doesn’t need to breath to survive. One can theorize he doesn’t need food as well, but he does eat, if only by pleasure. Being an Imaginary Domain Existence, strange phenomenon can appear around him. He can teleport on short distances, so to say.
Anima
As explained in the biography, Anima is the failsafe, meant to destroy the Universe. It is said the destruction of the Dimensional Universe through the power of Anima would happen in the blink of an eye. It is a wonderful weapon in battle, and his entire body emits Anima, thus why he wears skin tight suit. If he touches someone, it might be deadly to them as they might not bear Anima, although now Mary gave him back his full Anima, he probably can exerts more control on his power, but it might take time for him to learn how.
For fighting, Anima manifests itself in magic that he can use to attack the enemy or heal his allies. Peoples who are resonant with Anima, the Shining Will, can also have access to a part of Anima by being with him, and even to energy coming from the Zohar as Anima filters its waves. Nevertheless, Yeshua will only use his powers related to Anima in extreme situation. Indeed, as to limit the probability to see Anima ignite he has to use it a minimum, thus why most often he fights like normal humans.

To explain who Yeshua is, to understand the being he is, the power called Anima must be explained; and in order to understand Anima, the fabric of the Universe itself has to be understood. As Yeshua’s life is connected, from close or far, to most major events that happened in his universe, his history is very long. I do not think the wiki link is explaining enough for someone non-acquainted with the canon to understand, so here it is:
Genesis (0000)
The Universe is composed of two Domains: the Upper Domain and Lower Domain. The Upper Domain is where God lives, God is most commonly known as U-DO. There are many entities similar to U-DO, other Waves Existences existing alongside of it, but they do not appear to interfere with U-DO or humanity. U-DO is described as being a unified consciousness of nigh-infinite power, lonely and borderline childish; it is always asking questions and rarely does anything aside from observing events and persons. The Lower Domain, also called the Dimensional Universe, is where humans live; it is what humans call the Universe: countless stars and planets drifting within countless Galaxies, something that looks infinite from our viewpoint. There might be many Lower Domains but this is not confirmed; because of how limited humans are, it is impossible for them to perceive other Lower Domains or the Upper Domain. The Dimensional Universe is divided into two Domains: one of them is the Real Number Domain. It is the domain we perceive, the physical domain where the bodies exist. The other one is the Imaginary Number Domain, where the consciousnesses exist. Everything that exists within the Real Number Domain exists as well in the Imaginary Number Domain. The consciousnesses exist within the Imaginary Number Domain, but the bodies ‘trap’ them and anchor them to the Realm Number Domain. When the body dies, the consciousness is free to return where it came from.
At the same time the Lower Domain was created (the Big Bang), the Collective Unconscious was born within the Imaginary Number Domain, the Zohar was created. The Collective Unconscious is often called the UMN (Unus Mundus Network). It is the collective of every consciousness in the Dimensional Universe: all consciousnesses come from it, and they return to it when the body dies. The Zohar is a door from the Upper Domain to the Lower Domain. It could be simply described as being a door to U-DO, although the influxes of energy are only possible from the Upper Domain toward the Lower Domain. When a massive influx of energy comes from the Zohar, it causes a Matter Shift; basically what exists within the Real Number Domain is shifted within the Imaginary Number Domain.
Nevertheless, the equilibrium of the Universe is very fragile. Human’s consciousnesses have a tendency to reject each other: it is one of the greatest threats to the Universe’s survival. When someone dies and his consciousness returns to the Collective Unconscious, this person’s consciousness may refuse to return to the Collective. It is a natural process; peoples’ consciousnesses are always scarred of being so close to others consciousnesses, but they end up merging within the Collective Unconscious. But if the fear of returning to the Collective is too great, then this consciousness won’t return to it, and without a body, will wander the Imaginary Number Realm. They are known as a Rejecting Will. When the Zohar’s energy shines and draws those Rejecting Will, who aspire to become like U-DO, they can be perceived as translucent monsters in the Real Number Domain, and are called Gnosis. Gnosis are how we perceive those Rejecting Wills, they attack humans and kill them or worst, Gnosify them. Legendary creatures and monsters we hear about in myths and legends are actually Gnosis. As time passes, the risk is that more and more humans will develop that fear of the union with the Collective, increasing the number of Rejecting Will. Worst, U-DO’s contact with humans increases the speed of this phenomenon. While peoples having a strong sense of individuality is not be a bad thing, quite the contrary from a philosophical standpoint, them rejecting the union with the Collective Unconscious leads to the dispersion of that Collective. If the number of Rejecting Will was to exceed that of the Non-Rejecting Will, then the Dimensional Universe would collapses. Because of how the domains are connected, the Upper Domain would collapse as well, meaning the end of the entire Universe.
To prevent this from happening, the Collective Unconscious produced the Power of Anima. Anima is a failsafe, meant to automatically destroy properly the Dimensional Universe, if ever the number of Rejecting Will was to become too important. This way the Upper Domain of the Universe would be protected. To control the power of Anima, the Collective Unconscious produced another power, known as Animus. This power can control Anima and the Relics of God; it’s to say devices using Anima or the Zohar as power source. Aside from those two God-Like powers, the Collective Unconscious also gave birth to Shining Wills. They are part of the Failsafe System; while Anima will automatically ignite the day it is needed, and while Animus keeps the power of Anima in check, those Shining Wills resonate with Anima. There is one special Shining Will who doesn’t resonate with Anima but with Animus, and it is only with her that Animus can reach its full potential. The Shining Wills have a strong sense of individuality and a great will of power, but in spite of that, they cannot become Gnosis.
But humanity, the Collective Unconscious, in spite of having created Anima and Animus, didn’t want to disappear, it wants to survive. As such, a third power was formed by the Collective Unconscious, one whose purpose would be to preserve the existence of the Dimensional Universe at any cost. This power has no name, but when humanity appeared on Earth, he took upon a physical form, and the name he used the most often was Wilhelm.
Ancient Era (BC XXXX – AD 00XX)
When Wilhelm appeared on Earth, so did the power of Anima and the power of Animus. Anima’s incarnation was Yeshua, and Animus’ incarnation is the woman called Mary Magdalene. The three of them were immortals and considered god-like beings. While they didn’t have the knowledge of who they were and what their purpose was, they instinctively understood what they were, their mission and their purpose. While Anima on its own possesses impressive power, Yeshua found out he could also draw infinite power from U-DO himself through the Zohar, because he had a natural knowledge of Lemegton, the Words of God. Using them, he could establish a link with the Zohar and draw infinite amount of powers from there. Yeshua refused as well to see the Dimensional Universe destroyed. They might have been incarnations of powers meant to end the Dimensional Universe, but the consciousness they developed was against that destruction, even though they understood its necessity in the worst scenario. They searched ways to prevent Anima from having to ever be used, but working with Wilhelm was apparently impossible, they shared the same purpose, but their solutions, their beliefs were different.
They gathered many peoples with them to help; all of them were Shining Wills, who would come to be known as the Apostles, and one of them was the Maiden of Mary, resonating with Animus. They were no god-like beings or immortal though, they were merely humans. Mary came up with a plan, and decided that to prevent the consciousnesses from rejecting each other, humans should become Gods themselves, similar to U-DO, and live in an Upper Domain, forever protecting them from destruction. She and her followers then created the system known as Zarathustra, meant to allow humans to become Higher Existences. The system used Anima as its power source, as well as the Zohar. Yeshua and Mary built alongside of Zarathustra other systems, meant to be part of Zarathustra’s system: Omega and Merkabah amongst other thing, known as the Relics of God. It failed nevertheless, as humans cannot become Gods, and worst of all it speeded up the process of Anima’s ignition.
Later on, they thought they found the solution in a man, who came to be known as The Messiah. His teachings were basically that of Christianity; they incited humans to accept each other, to love each other and to be good to one another. By accepting those teachings while they were alive, it would increase the possibility for peoples to join peacefully the Collective Unconscious at their death, thus saving the Dimensional Universe. Mary and Yeshua decided to help him spread his teachings throughout the world; Mary planned how to spread his teachings, and Yeshua accomplished miracles in the man’s name using Lemegton. The Messiah and Yeshua together formed the being known as Jesus. At this time, Yeshua also decided to write down Lemegton, in the hope those words would help humans someday, unfortunately only he can utter them correctly, and the book got lost in darkness of history for two thousand years.
Unfortunately, helping the Messiah was not without risks. The Apostles resonated with Anima, speeding up the ignition of Anima even further, and Wilhelm finally intervened. He was then Emperor of the Roman Empire, and he persecuted The Messiah and its followers to stop them from interacting with Anima. In the end, the Messiah was crucified and died. But this was too late and Anima was about to ignite. To prevent the destruction of the Dimensional Domain and to save Yeshua’s life, Mary sacrificed herself and divided Anima into 13 parts. One remained in Yeshua, and the 12 others became the Vessels of Anima. Because she did something that was against her nature, Mary’s power of Animus faded away, and ultimately she died, her consciousness and powers scattering across the UMN.
Following Mary’s death, Yeshua stopped taking an active role in the events and merely observed things; would he have chosen to fight Wilhelm’s plan anyway, he would have been unable to oppose him without his powers. Wilhelm took control of Zarathustra, and slowly sought to take control of the world from the Shadows to implement his own plan against the destruction: the Eternal Recurrence. It is simple; the Recurrence consists of sending back every existence in the Dimensional Universe to the origin point, forever trapping the Dimensional Universe in a circle, before the Collective Unconscious may collapse, so that the end never happens. Mary’s follower managed to hide and seal the Zohar away, to incapacitate Wilhelm, as they rejected the idea of the recurrence. Mary’s body, albeit dead, didn’t decompose and Yeshua placed her and the 12 vessels in Rennes-le-Chateau. He then spent the next 2000 years protecting her body from Wilhelm. He stopped using the name Yeshua, and took upon the name chaos.
Modern Era (AD 20XX)
In the 21st century, without anyone left to oppose him, Wilhelm had virtually control of humanity and established a company known as Vector Industry. It financed an archeological expedition in Kenya, and the archeologist in charge of the expedition, Dr. Matsuda, was successful in finding and unsealing the Zohar. It was then taken to the Headquarters of Vector Industries to be studied. A scientist managed to find the book where Yeshua had written down Lemegton, deciphered it, and made it into a program to activate the Zohar. The first person to have attempted it was his own daughter, Nephilim, and a matter shift happened. She became an Imaginary Domain existence, neither a Gnosis, neither part of the Collective Unconscious. Peoples who enter in contact with U-DO receive a vision of the whole Universe’s destruction and generally go ‘mad’, selfish, or what peoples see as ‘evil’. But Nephilim didn’t go mad and remained calm, instead trying to find a way to save the Universe. Surprised at this reaction, U-DO decided to observe this girl in peculiar, and as such created Observation Terminals with the purpose to observe Nephilim: the Real Number form of its “eyes” is a young boy named Abel, while the Imaginary Number form is a gigantic vessel known as Abel’s Ark. After that, the experiment with the Zohar went berserk, threatening all of humanity of disappearing as a matter shift was spreading.
Amidst the ensuing chaos, Wilhelm went to Rennes-le-Chateau to recover the 12 Vessels of Anima, but Yeshua, or rather chaos now, who was still there, prevented him from taking Mary’s body for his schemes, delaying Wilhelm’s plan of many thousands years. Humanity left Earth thanks to spaceships built by Vector, and Wilhelm reduced Earth to Plank Scale to prevent the matter shift from spreading to the whole Dimensional Universe. chaos was forced to leave Rennes-le-Chateau at this point and humanity started to colonize other planets. The Lemegton program scattered throughout the UMN. During those thousands years, Nephilim took contact with chaos to organize a plan to save the Dimensional Universe, and while he didn’t take upon an active role, he helped her and assisted the peoples they thought could be a hope for the future.
At some point after humanity left and lost Earth, a new calendar system was adopted, Transcend Christ, and Earth was renamed Lost Jerusalem. What happened in the 4000 following years remains for the most part a mystery. By TC 4000 though, humanity had colonized thousands and thousands of planet over many galaxies and was apparently prosper. A Federation had been created, and a Church named Ormus secretly existed, officially called the Immigrant Fleet. They were the inheritor of Christianity. Around that period as well, another human made contact with U-DO, Dmitri Yuriev. U-DO’s vision terrorized him and granted him a virtual immortality, but he sought to destroy God and become God himself, thinking this way he could save himself from the Universe’s destruction.
The Voyager Investigation (TC 4657)
In this year, chaos helped from the shadows a man named Jan Sauer in his investigation against the mysterious murderer known as Voyager. Jan Sauer was in fact the reincarnation of one of chaos’ friends, one of the Apostles. Even though Voyager was also a Shining Will, it is unknown if he was an Apostle as well in his past life. Voyager is a man who had been in contact with U-DO the same way Nephilim and Yuriev had been, and to avoid madness and despair, he had decided to provide U-DO with information to prevent the end of the world. Unfortunately for him, U-DO never answered his expectations and abandoned him.
The whole investigation was closely watched by Wilhelm, who intended to make of Jan Sauer his first Testament; a Shining Will whose physical body die and is willingly ‘reverse engineered’ by Wilhelm to serve his purpose, it’s to say the accomplishment of Eternal Recurrence. Yeshua’s intervention thwarted his plan as even with The Compass, Wilhelm cannot predict Yeshua’s action. Instead, Wilhelm decided to make of Voyager his first Testament, and when Voyager realized U-DO wouldn’t help him saving the Dimensional Universe, he accepted to become the Black Testament. He thus reached immortality and became a superior being, superior to other humans and especially to his rival.
Jan Sauer suicided when Voyager offered him to join him, as Voyager had ‘killed’ his wife and son, but he would be revived by the Federation as a Cyborg, who would live for over 100 years and would be known as Ziggurat 8, then Ziggy.
Before the Crisis (TC 47XX – TC 4753)
The Zohar, who had been kept by Ormus on the planet Michtam until then, was moved on the planet Miltia to be studied by the U-Tic, a mock company hiding the Ormus church and fooling the Federation. Kevin Winnicott saw his family die on Michtam and was approached by Wilhelm as he was a child to construct an android looking exactly like Mary Magdalene, KOS-MOS, in order to revive her soul within. He then became Wilhelm’s right hand man, and thanks to him became the second in command in the Zohar experiments. Wilhelm was at the time the CEO of Vector and an important figure in the Federation, but he was also assuming the identity of Cardinal Heinlein, pulling the strings in Ormus and playing the role of the CEO of a company in direct concurrence with Vector. Kevin was the reincarnation of an apostle as well: Judah, the traitor.
On this very planet also lived the Maiden of Mary’s reincarnation: Shion Uzuki and her brother. Kevin fell in love with her, and so did she with time. Joachim Mizrahi, a famous scientist, established a perfected system to connect with the Zohar. Mizrahi got his hands on Lemegton and manufactured the Song of Nephilim, a gigantic system ‘singing’ Lemegton. To help with the connection, he created 12 Zohar Emulator, mock Zohar of weak capacities to help activate the real Zohar, and connected two transgenic-type Realians to the system (half mechanical/half biological artificial beings) for establishing a contact with the Zohar. Albeit Mizrahi was the head of Project, everything was organized by Ormus and he was merely a puppet to them.
Nevertheless, throughout his researches, Mizrahi had discovered everything: Ormus, Yeshua who is the failsafe, Wilhelm’s existence, Mary Magdalene and her revival, the universe’s destruction, the result of Zohar’s experiment. The only thing he didn’t find out was the culmination of Wilhelm thousand years long scheme: the eternal recurrence. As such, he moved forward with his experiment, knowing what they’d lead to, but betters him to do it than someone else; at least he would do his best to help humanity. He encrypted all his discoveries as well as Lemegton in the Y-Data, and then hided them into a Realian he created in the image of his dead daughter. Realians are human looking artificial life forms; half robotic, half biological, very commonly used at those times.
In parallel, Dmitri Yuriev had created an army of biological weapon, the URTVs: U-DO Retro Virus, 12 years old children in appearance. All of them possessed waves that should be able to kill U-DO’s eyes in our domain, but Yuriev lied to them and the Federation, not revealing U-DO’s true nature and merely making it look as a malevolent entity that can and should be destroyed. All the URTVs share a common consciousness and have bland personality, save for the four Variants: Rubedo, Albedo, Nigredo and Citrine. He trained them for the day they’d have to kill U-DO, even though Dmitri knew U-Do cannot be killed and his real plan was to become God himself. It is very possible that Rubedo, Nigredo and Albedo are the reincarnation of Apostles as well.
The Miltian Accident (TC 4753)
On a terrible diplomatic stance with the U-Tic, and fearing what would happen if U-Tic pierced the Zohar’s secrets and used it as a weapon, the Federation attacked Miltia. In retaliation, the countless Realians on Miltia and those sent by the Federation went mad due to the activation of a secret code and killed randomly peoples, destroying everything and rendering most of the federation’s army useless. On a separate mission, the army of URTV was sent to kill U-DO, but they failed and all of them, save for the variant, got contaminated by U-DO and went rampage, killing peoples and adding to the chaos. Albedo was contaminated as well and became mad, but he also absorbed some of U-DO’s powers in the process and gained a better understanding of the Universe.
The Federation sent two men to retrieve the URTVs from this hell. One of the two men was a Realian, Canaan, specially built by Vector not to go mad, without the security fail allowing the U-Tic to disable Realians. The other one was chaos himself. Together, they landed on Miltia thanks to a Mecha provided by Vector, ES Asher using a vessel of Anima as power source. U-Tic activated the Song of Nephilim to draw the Zohar’s power. This ‘song’ renders peoples mad when Lemegton is not uttered correctly, and chaos, knowing its effects better than anyone else, helped Canaan resist it, successfully. They then met with Jin Uzuki, the brother of Shion and the reincarnation of an Apostle as well, who was himself on a mission to expose the true society behind the U-Tic: Ormus. After helping him to defeat the Colonel Margulis of the U-Tic (also the reincarnation of an Apostle), they went on separate ways. chaos and Canaan managed to save Rubedo and Nigredo, chaos comparing them to the Knights of Apocalypse. Albedo on his end was saved by U-Tic and Citrine returned to her Yuriev’s organization in the Federation, Salvator.
Meanwhile, the crazed Realians killed Shion Uzuki’s mother. Shion fell into despair at this sight, and being the Maiden of Mary, this ignited the Zohar as never, the Zohar’s influx power drawing all of the Gnosis to it and materializing them into the Real Number Domain. To prevent them from causing the Collective Unconscious to shatter, Mizrahi sealed off Miltia and the Zohar before being murdered, probably by one of Wilhelm’s men. The main actors of those events managed to escape in time.
Aftermath (TC 4753 – TC 4767)
From that point on, Gnosification increased on exponential scale. Gnosis started appearing everywhere in the Universe, what were just isolated case and rumors became the greatest threat humanity ever faced. Gnosis being Imaginary Number Domain, technologies to ‘kill’ them are not sufficient enough and humanity was on the brink to be destroyed by them. During those times, chaos helped Rubedo and Nigredo to fund the Kukai Foundation and worked for the Foundation actively, although no one there saw him as an employee, but has a valued friend.
He then encountered the crew of a small ship named the Elsa. He played Poker with the three crew members, Captain Matthews, Tony and Hammer. But quickly they ended up owing him two times the money they gain in one year. He didn’t ask them money though, only that they take him on their ship for transportation. During the travel, chaos saw the cargo one of the Captain’s old friend had asked him to deliver, and realized it was something illegal. Matthews was shocked to learn what the Cargo was, but it was too late and they had been sighted by the Federation. chaos told them what to do to escape the Federation, but as it involved destroying a structure belonging to the Kukai Foundation, Matthews found himself with a debt of many millions G.
As such, the Elsa became a part of the Kukai Foundation, and chaos a crew member of the Elsa, and the ship’s protector. Whenever they encountered Gnosis, chaos destroyed them, or rather, eased their pain. Following that, the three crewmembers not only became chaos’ friends, but they also admired and respected him above anyone else.
Meanwhile, Shion Uzuki and Kevin Winnicott joined Vector and built KOS-MOS, officially as the perfect Anti Gnosis weapon, Wilhelm, Voyager and Kevin being the only one to know the true intent of the KOS-MOS Project. As part of his plan, Kevin orchestrated his own death at the hand of the KOS-MOS archetype, and become the Red Testament. Shion, who was engaged with Kevin, gave all her soul into constructing and making KOS-MOS the most human possible, as she was all she had left of Kevin. Because that particular bond formed between her and the android looking just like Mary Magdalene, the consciousness of Mary Magdalene revived within the android. Nevertheless, the consciousness was sleeping and most of her memories were blocked.
The Weaver of Zarathustra (TC 4767)
KOS-MOS was finally achieved, but before she could be awakened, the fleet transporting her and a Zohar Emulator was attacked by the Gnosis. Awakening when she felt Shion was in danger, she managed to help her and the Vector personal to evacuate the ship in escape pods, but accidentally killed Virgil who was in the way of her mission. After his death, Virgil made a pact with Wilhelm and became the Blue Testament, as he was the reincarnation of one of the Apostle as well. The whole fleet of Federation ship was destroyed, with only a few escape pods left. One of them contained Shion and her co-worker Allen, while the Commandant Cherenkov, a Federation military spying for the U-Tic, managed to stay on the pod with a spacesuit.
The Elsa passed in the region short after, and KOS-MOS coerced the crew in taking her onboard. While KOS-MOS wanted to let Shion, Cherenkov and Allen drift in space until a rescue ship would pass by, as they would slow down her mission given by Vector of going back to Vector’s headquarter, chaos stepped in and convinced her to allow them to come onboard as well. From this point on, chaos kept a close eye on KOS-MOS, waiting for Mary’s consciousness to wake up as he knew about her and who she truly was. It happened on a few occasion during their journey, the android’s red eyes turning blue on those occasions, as Mary’s eyes. Chaos socialized with the three new passengers, and with two more of them as the ship was shortly joined by Ziggy. The android was on a mission to save Mizrahi’s Realian daughter, MOMO, from the U-Tic, as she contained the Y-Data, but his ship had been attacked by the U-Tic on the way back. The Elsa saved them though and they were allowed to come onboard. By chance, they all the same destination: the planet 2nd Miltia.
Later on, many events happened where chaos participated by helping and supporting morally his friends. When the Elsa was about to be destroyed by a horde of Gnosis, Mary awakened briefly within KOS-MOS and chaos helped her to use Animus to destroy them. Ultimately he, KOS-MOS, Shion, Allen, Ziggy and MOMO joined with Rubedo, now using the name Gaignun Kukai Junior, and went to the Kukai Foundation, in waiting before going to the 2nd Miltia. When the Kukai Foundation got framed for betraying the Federation and being those who destroyed the ship that was escorting KOS-MOS in the beginning, they had to explore KOS-MOS subconscious to find the proofs that the Foundation was innocent. In her subconscious, chaos and Shion encountered Nephilim. Nephilim spoke with chaos a bit, speaking of Shion’s importance for Mary, but for him as well.
The framing of the foundation was a plot with the sole purpose of allowing the U-Tic to get back MOMO, and so the Y-Data. Having failed to do so, Albedo, now adult and working with the U-Tic, used the Song of Nephilim to draw countless Gnosis t attack the Foundation and retrieve MOMO. Chaos was one of only peoples to hear the song, and protested against their use of it once more. As the Gnosis were overcoming the Foundation, Wilhelm stepped in in the Ship-Colony Motherbase of Vector, the Dammerung, and used their latest anti-gnosis armament, the Rhine Maiden, to annihilate the fleet of Gnosis at once. They took the occasion to retrieve MOMO from Albedo’s hands, but in spite of this Albedo managed to summon Proto Merkabah, a copy of the original Merkabah built by Mary in ancient times. Having accessed the Y-Data, Albedo had the knowledge of everything Mizrahi did, much to the Testaments’ displeasure, but Wilhelm chose to let him do as he wished.
The team managed to stop Albedo who fled, but Merkabah was still about to destroy a planet. In disintegrating the Merkabah, the Elsa took a lot of time and barely escaped. KOS-MOS uttered the words ‘Relinquish your pain, unto me’, that chaos’ recognized as being Mary’s word. As KOS-MOS was about to be destroyed as she used her own body to protect the Elsa, chaos decided for the first time in millennia’s to take an active role in history, and used his powers to protect her from being destroyed. All safe, the Elsa landed on the 2nd Miltia and chaos got reunited with his old friend Jin Uzuki when he followed Shion who decided to visit her brother.
He once more took a passive role in the following events, preferring to watch than to act, all while assisting the others. He was annoyed to see the use of ES, the ES being the Mecha using the Vessels of Anima as their power source. Later, after Albedo created an U-DO distortion, died and became the final Testament, he helped Rubedo escape the U-DO Anomaly as it was closing, apparently coming out of nowhere. Nevertheless, the anomaly brought Abel’s Ark out of hiding, which absorbed the now freed Zohar. chaos used his power to push away Abel’s Ark. At this moment Wilhelm contacted him, and chaos told him he has no intention of watching him do, he finally took the decision of taking an active role in what was to come.
The End of the Cycle (TC 4768)
As a result of Abel’s Ark appearance, a part of Lost Jerusalem appeared in part. This landmass happened to be the resting place of the Vessel of Animus: Mary’s body. Ormus and the federation fought over dominance of Rennes-le-Chateau, but before anyone could set foot on it, a shield appeared around the landmass, and trapped the Elsa within it. The Four Testaments infiltrated Rennes-le-Chateau to recover Mary Magdalene’s body, still intact after 6000 years. Kevin could then build another android, T-elos, made of Mary’s body. The intent was for T-elos to kill KOS-MOS and absorb the consciousness of Mary Magdalene, so that her revival would be complete. Meanwhile, the android was given an AI, cruel and sadistic with the sole purpose to execute KOS-MOS. She was officially introduced as a replacement to KOS-MOS in the federation and KOS-MOS was literally thrown to trash. But the Elsa being trapped in Rennes-le-Chateau and KOS-MOS’ weaponry being the only way to penetrate the barrier surrounding the landmass, Shion and her friend had an excuse to ‘steal’ KOS-MOS from Vector. They reactivated her, and used her to infiltrate Rennes-le-Chateau. There, at the place where Mary was resting, the Red Testament and T-elos were waiting for them. chaos was shocked when he realized that T-elos was made of Mary’s body, but he couldn’t intervene. T-elos nearly killed KOS-MOS, having been built with superior weaponry, but Shion’s will to protect her awakened Mary’s consciousness once more, protecting them all from T-elos and moving them into the Imaginary Number Domain, more precisely, in a recreation of the Miltian Accident. There KOS-MOS was rebuilt with superior weaponry. Eventually, they returned to the Real Domain.
chaos remained discreet during the following events, concerning mostly Shion and Rubedo and fighting ghost of their pasts, until their travel leaded them to the Michtam where Zarathustra slept. When they got close to the core of Michtam, Mary’s consciousness finally awoke for good, but with no memory of her previous life. T-elos tried to kill KOS-MOS once more, but she couldn’t defeat the power of Animus, and dies. KOS-MOS then absorbs T-elos’ body, it’s to say Mary’s body, fulfilling Mary’s revival, as she gets back all the memories of her ancient life. They encounter Kevin after that, who tries to get Shion to agree with the recurrence, but much to his surprise, Mary actually doesn’t agree with the recurrence and convince Shion not to join Kevin. They fight, and he flees to where Wilhelm is.
When they arrived at the core of Zarathustra, Wilhelm incapacitated all the characters, chaos included as he didn’t have Anima, reunited the 12 Vessel of Anima around Zarathustra, the Zohar encrypted within the System and Abel in the system as well. He explained a few of the past era story to the character, asked Shion for she use the ‘key’, her pendant, in order activate Zarathustra and start the eternal recurrence. She refused, so Wilhelm did torture her until she’d accept; Kevin ended up betraying Wilhelm as he couldn’t bear seeing Shion suffering, but to no avail as Wilhelm merely tortured him as well. Knowing that Mary didn’t want Yeshua to die or the Universe to be destroyed, he ordered Mary to bring him the pendant and start the recurrence. It appeared to work, but at the last second she broke the pendant, and the android’s eyes turned back to Red, claiming to be KOS-MOS and not Mary. As Wilhelm pleads Mary to help him start everything back, she keeps refusing and chaos speaks with Wilhelm, explaining his belief in humanity. Zarathustra went berserk and threatened to destroy the Universe, Kevin absorbed the energy of Zarathustra through himself and Wilhelm, to give a chance to the others of destroying the system, although it would kill him and Wilhelm’s body to do so. Once done, chaos had a last word with Wilhelm, telling him he believes humans can save the universe. Wilhelm acknowledged those words sound like something he’d say before his physical body disappeared. Nephilim then appeared close to Abel, to accomplish the plan she had in mind from the start.
KOS-MOS and chaos asked all the others to leave, as to let them do the matter shift to give humanity the time to find a solution. Before they left, chaos instructed to find Lost Jerusalem, as the key to save humanity is hidden on this planet. After they left, Mary, through KOS-MOS, released her power of Animus. It reconstructed Anima and gave it back to chaos, while Animus went momentarily to Nephilim, so that she could accomplish her plan with chaos and Abel. As he was working on the Matter Shift with Nephilim that was to take all Rejecting Will to Lost Jerusalem, so that humanity would have many thousands years left before the situation would get critical once more, KOS-MOS protected the area from the countless Gnosis trying to stop chaos and Nephilim. Eventually, Jin Uzuki came back to help KOS-MOS defend them, and after having slayed countless Gnosis, he fell under their attacks and died. Chaos saw this and tried to continue his task, but as they were nearly done, a gigantic Gnosis threatened to end the process, so KOS-MOS sacrificed herself, exploding against the Gnosis, basically killing her, and so Mary, for a second time. Albeit destroyed by seeing KOS-MOS, and as such Mary die again chaos managed to complete the Matter Shift, and every souls, including Jin, were taken to Lost Jerusalem, and he lost his physical body.
chaos, albeit he lost his physical form, managed to maintain open a way for the Elsa and his friends to leave the area before the Matter Shift was completed, and to help them further, Wilhelm used this opportunity bring both the Elsa and the Dammerung in the Milky Way, not so far from Lost Jerusalem. At the end, KOS-MOS was seen drifting in space, and chaos’ voice spoke to her, telling them that the universe still needed them, and wishing her a good night. After that, her body arrived close to Lost Jerusalem, and supposedly, chaos’ consciousness as well.

Personality:
Calm, caring and reassuring. Those are the traits anyone who spoke with chaos for a few minutes would agree upon. He is indeed often very calm and quiet; someone who does not know him that well could think he is quite a boring person, borderline invisible as he tends to avoid getting in the spot light. A man who would soon become a friend, Allen Ridgeley, even criticized and lightly mocked his demeanor after meeting him. Those criticisms were met with a lot of hostility from the crew chaos worked with (normal, as he had saved their lives).
Nevertheless, chaos is not emotionless, and while he does his best to hide his darker emotions, such as sadness and anger, they show up at time. Very caring as specified above, his face will express deep sadness upon seeing a friend being hurt or even worst- being killed. He could even scream under hard emotional strain, as any human being. He expresses his anger only when atrocious acts are committed, if something terrible has been done to his friends or if an evil deed has been committed using his own knowledge. Those are very rare occurrences, but they happen. Such an occurrence was when he saw that Wilhelm had used Mary’s body to achieve his plan or when he saw KOS-MOS sacrificing herself. Another example would be when the Song of Nephilim was used, a ‘weapon’ that could cost millions, maybe even billions of lives, a weapon that was created from ancient writings he had laid down millennia ago.
Another trait peoples would agree upon to define him is slowness. Whenever he speaks, he is slow. It’s not only a trait affecting his speech though, it also affects the way he walks, moves, or even his attacks. In everything he does, a certain slowness, quietness can be felt, contrasting greatly with energetic characters. This doesn’t mean he cannot run or act quickly- If the situation calls for it, he will do it. And while he often appears cheerful, while he always smiles to the people he meets, in fact he hides a sadness that has been lingering within him for thousands of years- a sadness born when his partner died. He is a serious man who accomplishes his duty thoroughly, yet as asserted through his discussion with Wilhelm, he never took an active role in history, he never went on the front, and just followed the flow of events.
In the past he worked together with Mary, he was quite active back then, so much that he even took decisions that would change the course of history. But after her death he gave up, and left Wilhelm to do whatever he wished. The situation changed by the end of the game serie: one year before the end, he told him he would take upon an active role, and he did indeed by the end of the serie. When Zarathustra was destroyed, he decided that now, to give humanity a chance, he would take his responsibility and do what he thought was best, without following the whim of other peoples, without following the pre-destined future wrote by Wilhelm. It doesn’t mean he hates or even dislikes Wilhelm, he knows Wilhelm took those decisions and acted for the better of humanity. But while they have the same purpose, they do not share the means.
The official Xenosaga guides gave Yeshua a Type-9 characteristic in the Enneagram personality assessment. Type-9 is referred to as “The Peacemaker”. They are relaxed peoples, who aim to help and heal others, yet they are passive, much like Yeshua. One of the fears of the Type 9 is to lose and be separated of those close to them, a situation Yeshua went through when Mary died, and a situation that repeated itself throughout the millennia as he invariably survived to any of his friend, all of them being mortal and himself being immortal. There is no doubt that remaining a human and surviving to countless generations of human deeply affected him. A Type-9 never takes initiatives and lets others take decisions. They avoid conflict and move along with the group, as Yeshua did for thousands of years.
It is said that if they are to take a leading role, they make excellent leaders as they are selfless, sacrificial and strive to improve the life of others before thinking to themselves. Yeshua manifested the will to take an active role in the end, maybe it means he’s going to work for the greater good, as Wilhelm did, but unlike him he won’t take an extreme path, always thinking to the others and what would be best for them.
Lastly, Yeshua likes to speak with peoples not only to discuss about their fears and pains, but also from a more philosophical standpoint, of a variety of topics for that matter. He likes speaking philosophy, as he did quite a few times with his friend Jin Uzuki, politics as he often does with characters when the subject is brought on, and of the events, higher plans, debating endlessly with Wilhelm on their view on the universe, humanity, and what should be done.
Abilities:
Yeshua is skilled in Martial Arts and fight enemy mostly in this way. Having lived at least 8000 years, we can assume he knows how to use most weapons and learnt numerous fighting techniques, but he never uses them. He has a near indestructible body and doesn’t need to breath to survive. One can theorize he doesn’t need food as well, but he does eat, if only by pleasure. Being an Imaginary Domain Existence, strange phenomenon can appear around him. He can teleport on short distances, so to say.
Anima
As explained in the biography, Anima is the failsafe, meant to destroy the Universe. It is said the destruction of the Dimensional Universe through the power of Anima would happen in the blink of an eye. It is a wonderful weapon in battle, and his entire body emits Anima, thus why he wears skin tight suit. If he touches someone, it might be deadly to them as they might not bear Anima, although now Mary gave him back his full Anima, he probably can exerts more control on his power, but it might take time for him to learn how.
For fighting, Anima manifests itself in magic that he can use to attack the enemy or heal his allies. Peoples who are resonant with Anima, the Shining Will, can also have access to a part of Anima by being with him, and even to energy coming from the Zohar as Anima filters its waves. Nevertheless, Yeshua will only use his powers related to Anima in extreme situation. Indeed, as to limit the probability to see Anima ignite he has to use it a minimum, thus why most often he fights like normal humans.
